How can I apply to Windlesham House School?

We are delighted that you are considering Windlesham House School for your child’s education. Joining our school community is an important decision, and we are here to guide you through every step of the admissions process.

Our bespoke admissions process focuses on the needs of each child and their family. As a gently selective school, Windlesham House’s excellent record continues to prepare children for outstanding day and boarding senior schools.

We are proud to be different. We have a rich and long history whilst being progressive and innovative in our culture and approach. Our girls and boys are kind and caring, full of curiosity and risk takers. They will leave the school characteristically confident, well rounded and ready to embrace the challenges ahead with positivity.

What are the entry points at Windlesham House?

Windlesham House School welcomes children aged four to thirteen, with main entry points at:

Reception (age four)

The start of our Pre-Prep, where children begin their formal education in a nurturing, play-based environment.

Year Three (age seven)

The transition to Prep School, where children move into more specialist teaching while maintaining a caring, supportive atmosphere.

Year Seven (age eleven)

For pupils joining us for their final years, benefiting from our excellent senior school preparation.

However, we also welcome applications at other year groups subject to availability. In certain circumstances, we do accept applications at other times during the academic year. If you are interested in a specific entry year, please contact our admissions team to discuss your requirements.

What does the admissions process involve?

Step one: Visit Windlesham House

Our first step is to invite you in for a visit where you will be shown around by our Headmaster, Ben Evans, or our senior leadership team who will give you a thorough insight into life at Windlesham House and how we are different from other schools. If you are new to the area, we can help you find somewhere to stay.

Step two: Finding out more

For us to find out more about your child, we will request their latest school report and CAT4 scores (if applicable) to give us an indication of their current academic levels and insight into how we could support them as a pupil at Windlesham House both in an educational and pastoral sense.

Step three: Taster day

The next stage is to register. We will arrange a taster session and or an overnight stay (depending on whether boarding is an option). All pupils having an experience with us will have a host who will ensure they are happy and participating in all parts of the school.

Step four: Offers

Places are offered on the basis of the taster visit, the informal assessment, a school report and CAT4 scores (if available). If an offer is made, a completed contract and deposit will be required to confirm a place.

Step five: Place confirmed

Once a place is confirmed, entry is usually at the beginning of the autumn term in September, the spring term in January or the summer term in April.

Step six: Joining

The admissions team will provide all the details you need to ensure your family’s transition to Windlesham House is a smooth one. The parent portal provides easy access to the information you will need. Do not forget, we are here to answer any questions you might have. We can even help you with information on the local area and estate agents.
